Summary | The Pharisees, the disciples and the rich young ruler all had one thing in common: they only saw the external. The Pharisees saw divorce but couldn't see God's purpose of marriage as a living picture of union with Christ. The disciples saw children but failed to observe God's great object lesson of humility. The rich young ruler saw earthly riches but the spiritual riches. James and John saw the exaltation and the position of being seated at Jesus' right hand but didn't see the path to the crown and the glory. Bartimaeus is the hero of this chapter: he's the only one who can see! |
