1 Old Testament Books Minor Prophets Micah (Micah 01) Introduction 3511 The message of Micah is to give us a hatred for rebellion and a passion for Christ to rule our lives. 4 general impressions of the book are 1) filled with Messianic thoughts; 2) very strong language for social justice; 3) contrasts; and 4) severe judgments predicted. Micah's 3 sermons follow a pattern of sin, judgment and mercy, and by the end of the book, sin is swallowed up in mercy! Ed Miller Micah_01Intro.mp3 Micah
2 Old Testament Books Minor Prophets Micah (Micah 02) Chapters 1-2 3511 The first of Micah's 3 sermons points us to victory through "the Breaker". Chapter 1 pictures idolatry as a wrong relationship to God. Micah makes plays on words on the 12 weird towns of God's judgment on their sins as mirrors of Israel's own sins that predict coming judgment too. If I'm wrong with God (chapter 1), I'm also wrong with men (chapter 2), given in 5 pictures of the rebellious heart. The mercy of God is in Christ the Breaker. Every impossible situation that God allows in your life is His opportunity for you to know Him as the Breaker. Ed Miller Micah_02Chap01_02.mp3 Micah 1-2
3 Old Testament Books Minor Prophets Micah (Micah 03) Chapters 3-5 3511 The message of Micah 3 through 5 is to lift their eyes from the inglorious present and to put their eyes on the Lord who will do something in the glorious future. Blessing not only follows affliction but comes OUT OF affliction. Everything that weakens you and brings you low is a forward step in the knowledge of God. Though God has to judge because of sin, judgment is not on His heart; He can't stop talking about the mercy of God! Ed Miller Micah_03Chap03-05.mp3 Micah 3-5
4 Old Testament Books Minor Prophets Micah (Micah 04) Chapters 6-7 Conclusion 3511 Christ is prophesied as the King of the Messianic Age (4:1-5), contrasting present shame with future glory. The implication is that if you let Jesus reign now, you don't have to wait until the Millenium to enjoy a foretaste of glory. Great pictures of Christ in 5:1-5 include the Smitten One, the Everlasting Ruler, the God-appointed Ruler, and our Peace. God lays bare His heart in the last of 3 sermons promising future mercy in the Royal Shepherd. Ed Miller Micah_04Chap06-07_Spliced.mp3 Micah 6-7
