Summary | Mark 11 is one of the strangest chapters in Mark's Gospel in His deliberate calling attention to Himself in the "Triumphal Entry" and in the only miracle of judgment in His whole ministry by cursing the fig tree. There is a wonderful symbolism here. Jesus' entry into Jerusalem was both triumphal and non-triumphal; it was one of the greatest rejections in the New Testament. The cause for Israel's fruitlessness was no faith in God, which is pictured in the withered fig tree. |
