Summary | A major reason for an incomplete temple is self-sufficiency, as expressed by the words from the lips of the escaped remnant, "We ourselves will do it." Not only did they exclude the despised Samaritans but also the LORD Himself. The force of arms by the government to halt temple work provided what seemed to be a reasonable excuse to have an incomplete temple. Discouragement, fear and frustration (Ezra 4:4-5) is an apt description of the years of a Christian with an incomplete temple. |
