Summary | Chapters 1 - 3 highlight God's burden to make Himself known and the people's response of neglect. God did everything He could to make His presense known through the Ark of the Covenant, the tribe of priests, and the Nazirites, but the people only saw the pictures, not the invisible God. In chapters 4 - 8, by allowing the Ark to be stolen, God communicated that since the people didn't want Him, He'd be leaving. Outward form means nothing to the Lord without inward reality. |
